Good grief! These frequent threats to cut off our power are a bit annoying. I guess I was right to gas up the portable generator and charge up all of the emergency back up devices today.
As of 8:06 p.m. on Sunday, August 30, 2026, SCE has indicated that it is likely to de-energize the primary transmission lines serving Big Bear Valley within the next four hours due to wind-driven fire conditions. These conditions are expected to continue through Tuesday morning, September 1.
If the lines are de-energized, BVES will have very limited capacity, and some or all customers may experience an extended outage. Customers should prepare now and continue monitoring BVES communications for updates.
As of 5:22 p.m. on August 29, the primary SCE transmission lines serving Big Bear Valley from Lucerne Valley met SCE’s criteria for possible de-energization within the next four hours.
A shutoff has not been confirmed. If SCE de-energizes these lines, BVES will have very limited capacity, and some or all customers may experience an outage. Customers should prepare for the possibility of an extended outage and continue monitoring BVES updates.

Hey Boots! A rescue helicopter was dispatched for an unconscious person east of Erwin Lake yesterday around 1pm. The incident is on the list from yesterday but you would never know it was a helicopter rescue. I saw it on the chatter between Big Bear Fire and Air Rescue 08. Link to Incident: [Click Here]
Yesterday morning there was a helicopter circling out over the dry lake in Erwin and surrounding the hills for a long time. Nothing is in incidents. Anyone know what was going on?
