Boots, my vehicle isn't quite that good in snow. At least I do have AWD now, but it's not like a full 4x4. I did manage to get up our long sloped driveway in about 6 inches of snow the other evening. I haven't put chains on in years. Now that I'm retired, I can just wait for the storm to pass, and for our street to be plowed. They actually came by early today. I have made a path to the garage. Snowblowing begins after this cup of coffee.

Good morning all! I think the wife and I will stay away from the crowds, we had originally planned to get up Wed. through Saturday morning. Have a great day!

I apologize for the issues HIB... We are working with our provider on these obtrusive ads on small form factor devices such as phones.

Yes, SR18 closed from Talbot on the Big Bear side to Arrowbear on the Arrowhead side. SR38 is open as the weekly closure has been suspended until next week. Caltrans was showing 38 closed earlier but noticed the mistake and removed the closure. Hwy 18 Lucerne Valley has a US Food Semi truck blocking lanes due to chain failure. Follow Incidents for the latest from CHP and fire. 80 incidents already today which is double the usual daily total. Its been a rough 12 hours for sure! Stay safe everyone!!

Caltrans has been on it all night. 12+hour shifts putting out road closures and plowing where they can. Big tree down across the road in little arctic circle. Don’t know its status at the moment. The county plow the residential streets. Caltrans plows main highways 18 and 38. Thank goodness for generators.

15" on the ground here in Moonridge from last night so total 30" this week. Its a tough measurement because of the wind but I have 1 wind protected spot that I use. I'm waiting until the winds die down to clear the driveway hopefully soon

DD- those storms in the 80s were something else! Part of the reason why we have big 4x's with snow tires- no more digging out at our age! We just drive over or through them!

Since we stayed off the hill for "Snowmageddon", I haven't had to clear this much snow in quite some time. This is just like storms which were common way back when. Good thing I have kept up on my snowthrower maintenance. Nevertheless, this old body will take a beating today while I dig us out. I hope that everyone stays safe and comfortable.
