Floods wiped it out one year and when the county reinstalled it a worker had apparently decided it should be spelled Artic.  If you check the map you'll find ARCTIC Canyon Rd both in Big Bear and in Lucerne- yep, leads to that wash.

SteveG21 hour(s) ago I usually just lurk here, but the "Arctic" discussion leads me to mention that on Hwy 18 down to Lucerne Valley, just a ways past the Mitsubishi mine area, there's a creek that runs under a bridge on the highway, and it's labeled "Artic Canyon Wash". Cracks me up every time I drive past.
